Sanmar

Chemplast Sanmar is over fifty years old and is a part of the SHL Chemicals Group, which in turn is a constituent of the Sanmar Group, one among the oldest and most prominent corporate groups in South India. Chemplast Sanmar, is a leading supplier of intermediates for global Agrochemical, Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemical innovators. These intermediates involve complex multi-step synthesis using unique chemistries. The manufacturing facility is located at Berigai, Tamil Nadu.

Problem – The customer is one of the leading chemical manufactures in India. The customer had a requirement of a Reactor control System for their R&D wing where the customer does the testing of different chemical Recipes in order to study chemical properties before going into actual production .The customer wanted to have a Real time monitoring of several process variables, 21 CFR PART 11 COMPLAINCES and controlling of several units to maintain optimum process conditions as well as saving data for future references

Solution – The customer requirement was a highly complex system. Several different units were involved Like Pump, pH controller, motor and Chiller Unit whose controlling needed to be done .We provided a PLC HMI SCADA system .The PLC and SCADA was Siemens 1200 series and WINCC respectively while HMI was Exor. The customer was able to set different parameters like temperature, motor speed pump opening in the field using the HMIs .The Graphically representation of Real time values of different process variables and setting of the parameters and data dumping was remotely done using SCADA system .The communication of the Temperature control unit to that of the PLC was done using RS 485. The Pump as well as the pH controller was controlled using 4-20mA signal from PLC and the controlling of the motor was done using RS232 with the use of JavaScript from Exor HMI

The customer was able to control and monitor the process easily which earlier wasn’t that much precise and was able to reduce the Human involvement in the process and there by errors.
